Ozarks Humor

By-Line: Cleatus Hooter is another 'Hungry Hills' classic, set for the most part in the southern Missouri Ozarks. More specifically it is the collected 'philosophical' writings of a hillbilly (unsyndicated) columnist named Cleatus Hooter. In the late 1990's the Ozark (Missouri) Headliner Newspaper grew rich and powerful on Hooter's weekly series of strange happenings along Ridge Road, which became the celebrated Ozarks classic The Hungry Hills, when it was published in book form on February 29, 2000. More recently this same newspaper became nationally famous by publishing the hilarious weekly news and gossip column titled Cleatus Hooter from Hootentown.

Sometime after Cleatus Hooter retired from newspaper work and pig farming, he his wife, Klytie, became world travelers. His humorous (but very true) accounts of their trips to the Fiji Islands, Old Mexico, and Cornwall (UK) are included in this volume.
